Bio Fungicides
Bio Control Agents

Bio-control is controlling a disease or a pathogenic micro-
organism or fungus causing disease by using another fungus or bacteria, which is
antagonistic to the pathogen. Several fungi, bacteria and viruses act as
bio-control agents or bio-agents, which have the ability to attack certain
specific fungal or bacterial pathogens and relieve the host from the deleterious
effects of disease. The bio-agents themselves are non-pathogenic to plants,
animals and man. Rather these are beneficial microorganisms, which can be used
to save the crop plants from various diseases.
Tricho Green (Trichoderma
viride & Trichoderma harzianum)

A Broad Spectrum
bio fungicide
Tricho Green (Trichoderma
viride and Trichoderma harzianum) are such group of antagonistic fungi or
bio-agents that are capable of combating a number of fungal diseases of crop
plants. It is a soil borne free living (living on dead organic matter) fungus
that grows abundantly and produces millions of minute green coloured spores.
These highly virulent broad -
spectrum fungicide are formulated as wettable powder containing a minimum of 10
8 viable Trichoderma spores per gram of carrier material.
Tricho green can be used
against soil borne fungal pathogens like fusarium, phytopthora, rhizoctonia,
pythium etc., which causes diseases like wilt, damping off, vascular wilt, root
rot, rhizome rot and vine wilt in crops viz pepper (quick wilt disease), tea,
coffee, cardamom (azhukal and rhizome rot diseases), clove, banana, grapes,
citrus, vegetables, tuber crops like potato, beetle vine, floriculture crops,
paddy etc.
Pseumo Green (Pseudomonas
fluorescens)

A
fungicide, bactericide and growth promoter
Pseumo
green (Pseudomonas fluorescens) is a broad spectrum fungicide, bactericide and
growth promoter. This product is formulated as wettable powder a minimum of 10
8 viable Pseudomonas fluorescens. This can be used against Panama
wilt in banana, Damping off in vegetable, stem rot in groundnut, leaf disease in
Paddy, Cardamom, Coffee, Tea and other crops. This is particularly effective
against sheath blight and leaf spot in Paddy. This bacteria act on pathogens
through mycoparasitism and antibiosis. Pseudomonas fluorescens improve plant
growth through the release of growth promoter – IAA, increase the soil fertility
by fixing atmospheric nitrogen and solubilise unavailable phosphorus. This can
be applied as seed treatment, nursery treatment and soil application.
